Owner Wendy Mosgrove, a professional ballerina from Hartford, CT, who was trained as a workout instructor by Jane Fonda in 1981 after she moved to San Francisco, became interested in hot yoga 16 years ago when she agreed to accompany a friend to a Bikram Yoga studio in San Jose.
At the time, she suffered from insomnia, took medication for depression, and had limited neck movement as a result of an automobile accident. After 10 days of hot yoga, she was sleeping through the night, no longer required her medications, and had full range of motion.
βI knew it was going to change my life,β says Mosgrove, who was trained as an instructor a year later by Bikram Choudhury and opened her first studio in Morgan Hill in 2011. βItβs the same 26 postures, in a set sequence, but itβs never the same class because youβre never the same,β Mosgrove says. βThe idea is to continually and systematically go deeper and deeper into each posture.β Mosgrove opened the Gilroy studio in 2015 and closed the Morgan Hill location in 2019. Best Yoga (bestyogastudios.com) is an independent, woman-owned and operated studio.

Yoga is a great way to improve your endurance in other physical activities. After a run, or heavy workout, yoga will help your body relax while stretching, strengthening, and lengthening the muscles you were just working on.
